Echinopsis oxygona or Echinopsis eyriesii, also known as the Easter Lily Cactus and Sea-Urchin Cactus, is a succulent native to South America. These plants are best known for their large (up to 8 inch) blooms that appear on mature plants in early spring. Individual plants can grow to have a height and diameter of 8 inches and rapidly produce offsets, small baby plants, that grow from the mother to form clusters that can become several feet in diameter.
The listing photos show multiple sides of the exact cactus clusters being offered, each identifiable using their assigned letters. All are shown growing in their 6 inch pots.
The information below is as accurate as possible however the smallest offsets (those smaller than 1/2 inch in diameter) were not included in the numbers. Clusters may contain 20 or more of these smaller offsets. A few of these clusters are also very dense in spots and may have additional offsets that are not visible and are not included in these numbers.
Cluster "A":
Cluster measuring 5-1/2 X 5-1/4 inches in diameter having a mother plant that is 2.4 inches in diameter. There are 20 offsets, with 6 of these being 1 inch in diameter or larger.
Cluster "B":
Cluster that is 6 x 5-1/4 inches in diameter with a mother plant measuring 2.4 inches in diameter. It has 20 offsets and the largest 10 are at least 1 inch in diameter.
Cluster "C":
A 6 x 5-1/2 inch cluster with a mother plant that is 2.2 inches in diameter. There are 33 offsets and 12 of these are 1 inch in diameter or larger.
Cluster "D":
A cluster measuring 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 inches having a mother plant that is 2-1/2 inches in diameter. There are 45 offsets with the largest 5 being at least 1 inch in diameter.
Cluster "E":
Cluster that is 6 x 5-3/4 inches with a mother plant that is 3 inches in diameter. Of the 36 offsets, 5 measure 1 inch or larger in diameter.
Cluster "F":
A 7 x 5 inch cluster that has two mother plants, each being 2-1/2 inches in diameter. There are a total of 55 offsets with 6 being 1 inch in diameter or larger.
These grew rapidly over the last 6 months and were recently recently transferred into their current 6 inch pots where their roots still have room to spread. The listing photos were taken on June 11, 2025.
They will ship as shown, in their pots with soil. Although they will be packaged to minimize the possibility, a portion of the offsets may become separated while in transit. These offsets will root independently very easily.
Like most cacti, the Easter Lily is very easy to grow and will perform well if a few simple guidelines are followed. The planting soil must drain freely and, although the Easter lily cactus enjoys more water than most, the roots must not be subjected to prolonged wet periods. It can withstand cooler temperatures, even frost, for short periods of time however they will thrive if kept between 50 and 95 degrees. Direct morning through midday sunlight is ideal and they may scorch if exposed to direct late day sun.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and we are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures.
