Silver Arrows Cactus, Mammillaria Karwinskiana Nejapensis, 5 Sizes - Free US Shipping

$22.00

The nejapensis subspecies of Mammillaria karwinskiana is a rarer cactus that is native to Mexico and is more commonly known as "Silver Arrows Cactus", "Owl Eye Cactus" and "Royal Cross Cactus". This species is unusual because the majority of the plant growth is achieved by "branching", the individual heads dividing as they become larger.

Silver Arrows grows to a height of 6 inches and forms large, tight clumps. A dense wool forms between the areoles of this plant and it produces small yellow flowers with pink veins during spring and summer.

We are offering five different plants in this listing, each identifiable by the corresponding letters shown in the photos.

Plant "A": A single head standing 4-1/2 inches tall with a diameter of 2-3/4 inches. Shown in 4-1/2 inch pot.

Plant "B": A single head with signs of branching. 3-3/4 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. Shown in 4-1/2 inch pot.

Plant "C" A cactus with two heads that are still developing after splitting. This plant has a height of 5-3/4 inches and measures 4 inches across both heads. Shown in 6 inch pot.

Plant "D": This plant has two fully developed heads and stands 5-1/2 inches above the soil. It measures up to 5-1/2 inches across both heads. Shown in 6 inch pot.

Plant "E": A taller cactus with two fully developed heads that stands 6 inches tall and is 6-1/2 inches at the widest point. Shown in 6 inch pot.

These will ship with a small amount of soil protecting their roots, however pots will not be included.

Care for the Silver Arrows is very straight forward: Plant in soil that drains very well, water only once completely dry during warmer months and once per month during fall and winter. Provide them plenty of light (all day indoor sunlight in a window or full to part sun outdoors) but keep in mind that they can be scorched during the hottest time of the year. These may survive temperatures as low as 20 degrees, however exposure to anything below 35 degrees should be limited.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and we are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures.
