Crinoid Fossil Specimens - Free US Shipping

$12.00

The crinoid fossils in this listing date to the late Carboniferous Period, when a sea covered what is now Central Texas. All of the specimens are well preserved and are ready to be displayed or be used as part of an educational program or craft project.

A relative of starfish and sea urchins, crinoids were animals that lived approximately 300 million years ago. They resembled plants, having a cup like structure called a "Calyx" positioned atop a stalk like body that was anchored to the ocean bottom. Feather-like arms extended from the calyx, capturing food as it floated by.

This listing offers eight different sets and one larger single piece to choose from. The photos show two sides or viewing angles for each piece.
