The colorful pieces of chert in this listing were collected around 20 years ago from what was then a remote hilltop approximately 25 miles west of Austin, TX. This location was the only source of large quantities of the material in the general area and it was quite obvious that indigenous inhabitants knew of its existence. Although knapping is not an art I have learned, those before me found the stones to be suitable for making tools and arrow points. Many of the pieces contained in these sets still bear the marks of their work.

The medium size chert is contained in a set of 36 pieces with a total weight of 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
