This petrified wood specimen was preserved in remarkable detail and was collected from an East Texas location. Several areas of crystalized chalcedony also decorate the piece.
At first glance this appears to be a section of fresh wood, however the fossilized tree section is between 40 and 50 million years old. It has a deeply textured surface that is beige with rusty-orange highlights.
This specimen measures 8-1/4 X 3-3/4 X 2-1/2 inches and has a weight of 2 pounds, 11 ounces. It was lightly washed and scrubbed after being collected.
