The raw serpentine in this listing represent some of the oldest mineral specimens that can be found in the state of Texas. Formed approximately 1.3 billion years ago, this material can only be found in a four mile long outcrop of the Coal Creek formation located in the Llano Uplift region.
There are four different sizes of serpentine available. With the exception of the final set, two sides of the stones are shown in the listing photos. In all cases, the photos show the exact pieces that will be shipped.
The set of large size stones consists of 13 pieces having a combined weight of over 2-1/2 pounds (43 ounces).
There are 26 pieces in the set of medium size specimens and they have a total weight of 2-1/2 pounds.
The small pieces weigh a combined 1 pound and there are 27 stones in this lot.
The final set contains over 50 fragments and flakes that were created when the other pieces in this listing were removed from the outcrop. These have a combined weight of 3/4 of a pound (12 ounces).
