These sets of larger petrified wood pieces were collected from an area in Texas where the Yegua Formation, a geologic layer known for producing high quality petrified wood, was exposed at the surface. The trees providing the wood died approximately 35 million years ago and were preserved in great detail. The variety of colors and textures in this material make the pieces well suited for general display or use as part of any number of different craft projects.
