Of the many thousands of tree slices I have prepared in my lifetime, those I have cut from very old red cedar stock have proven to be the most consistently beautiful and captivating. Bearing almost no resemblance to fresh red cedar, the wood achieves a deep and rich brownish-red tone and prominently displays growth rings as well as other interesting patterns.
The slices in this listing were taken from red cedar wood that aged naturally in a secluded part of our Texas ranch for many years. The bark and softer sap wood decayed long ago, leaving behind solid heartwood with a weathered and irregularly shaped exterior surface. They have not been treated in any way.
These are available in three different sizes:
The small slices have diameters ranging from 2-1/2 to 3 inches.
Medium size slices are between 3-1/4 and 4 inches in diameter.
The largest slices measure 5 to 5-3/4 inches in diameter,
All slices are 1/2 of an inch thick.
The slices are not round and the diameter refers to the measurement across the widest point of the slice. The dimensions of each slice will vary and the measurements listed above are +/- 1/8 of an inch. Listing photos show a portion of the material that is available and are representative of all slices.
The small and medium size slices were cut from branches and the majority have have moss and/or lichens decorating the side rims.
The large slices were cut from a tree trunk and portions of the side surfaces have been sanded to remove excess material from branch attachment points.

Why don't you ship live plants to locations within the state of California?
Unfortunately, we lack the certifications required by the California Department Of Agriculture that would allow us to ship live plants to those residing in the state of California.
