The pieces of agate in this listing were found in Mississippi and, in my opinion, are unique when compared to those found anywhere else in the world.
This material was found while searching a creek bed for fossils in the early 1990's. Although similar specimens may have been collected from this location previously, ten years would pass before seeing a report of similar material originating from the same geographical area.
These agates are relatively rare and their origin is still a bit of a mystery. The best guess is that these gems formed within the lava vent tubes of an ancient volcano that was located near what is now the city of Jackson. The material remained hidden for millions of years before being released by erosion.
The deep cavities that were once present in the stones have been removed or reduced by a 700+ hour tumbling process. There are four separate sets of these agates being made available, each containing three pieces. The sets are identifiable by the corresponding letters noted in the listing photographs.

Set "B": Total weight of 2.6 ounces (74 grams)
Set "C": Total weight of 3.0 ounces (84 grams)
Set "D": Total weight of 3.3 ounces (92 grams)
