The two sets of steel anchors in this listing were once used to fasten a railroad track to the underlying ties of an abandoned track in Central Texas. There are two different types and all are still very sturdy and solid despite their weathered appearance. There are a variety of potential uses for these pieces including using them as heavy duty hanging hooks or as part of a welding project.
The first set of anchors feature troughs that run completely around the outside of the pieces. They are 7-1/2 inches long, 1-3/8 inches deep and 3-1/2 inches wide when measured at the hook. The troughs are between 3/4 and 7/8 of an inch wide and 7/8 to 1 inch deep. The anchors weigh 2-1/2 pounds each.
The anchors in the second set have no troughs. These are between 7-3/8 and 7-3/4 inches long and 4-1/4 to 4-1/2 inches wide at the hook. The inside flat surface is 1 to 1-1/8 inches wide and the outside rib is 1/4 of an inch thick. Two of the anchors have flattened spots near the top that were created when they were driven into place along the track. Each pieces weighs 2-1/2 pounds.
All of the above figures are approximate and there is slight variation from piece to piece.
