Large Crested Elite Blue Myrtle Cactus, Myrtillocactus Geometrizans Cristata - FREE US Shipping

The plant being made available in this listing is a large and healthy example of a very rare and unusual cactus. The crested form of Myrtillocactus geometrizans (also known as Dinosaur Back, Crested Blue Myrtle Cactus, Crested Blue Flame and Crested Blue Candle Cactus) is highly sought after by collectors. This particular specimen is made even rarer by the fact that it is the "Elite" variety, having more vivid coloration and a tighter growth habit.

These are very attractive plants that are also relatively cold hardy. They continue to branch, produce new crests and stalks over time ensuring that every specimen has a unique shape.

Although it can survive temperatures as low as 25 degrees, it should be protected from frost and freezing if at all possible. Needs are typical of most other cacti: Plant them in well draining soil and in a planter having plenty of drainage. Water when dry during summer months and only once per month at other times of the year. Full sun is ideal but they may scorch if exposed to intense summer sun.

All sides of the exact plant being offered is shown in the listing photographs. The tallest stem stands 12 inches above the soil. The cluster measures 9 x 8 inches in diameter and was photographed growing in a 10 inch diameter pot.
