A dwarf hybrid of the Santa Rita and Beavertail prickly pear, the Baby Rita is a colorful, compact and very cold hardy cactus. These virtually care-free plants have bluish-green pads that turn yellowish-green with age. The pads display a degree of purple year long and become nearly entirely purple during the winter.
Plants representative of all that are available are shown in the listing photographs planted in their 4 inch pots. Each cactus will have two pads, stand 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 inches above the soil and will be well rooted. Your choice of two or four of these plants will be included with each order. These will ship with a minimal amount of soil, however pots will not be included.
Baby Rita seldom reaches a height of over one foot and may form a clump measuring up to two feet across. They can withstand temperatures as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit, must be planted in well draining soil and provided full sun. After being established, they only require supplemental water during periods of long drought.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not use heat packs and we are not responsible for damage related to the plants being exposed to cold temperatures.
